Menswear Update! JAY/K Sneak peak!

Here's a sneak peak at the JAY/K menswears AW12 collection!
I'm a big fan of the classic coats featured.

This crombie coat in herringbone tweed with contrasting black lapels and pocket flaps would look great dressed up or down and is around £150. Hello value for money!

Old Brompton Road Jacket

Smart shirts are tailored for a nice slim fit and are available in rich yet muted tones and colours for the AW season.

Dulwich Village Shirt

West Hampstead Shirt.

JAY/K is a Swiss brand, so, expect to see a firm nod to the colder climbs with cable knits too.

Battersea Rise Shirt

And last but not least!  Here are a few of my favourite printed Tees! No self respecting mens collection would be complete without a few of these! Layer them under your JAY/K cable knits or brave the quintessentially British, Indian summer and pair them with your favourite pair of denims.

Eye Candy!

Ok I know that the concept of sunshine is a relatively alien one in the deep and dreary depths of Manchester! But I can still appreciate a bonnie pair of bins, believe me!

Linda Farrow! Amazeballs for your Eyeballs!

Ahh! Linda Farrow/Prabal Gurung, be mine!

Eye Candy! Errm....... Yes!

S/S 12 Style Inspiration!

As spring hits me square in the face, I realise that now is the time to embrace colour, feminine silhouettes and romantic hemlines.

I'm going to channel Romy and Michele and Alabama for the next couple of months! Inventing post its.... Optional!

Fresh Prints!

Prints are amazing! Clash them! Match them! Dilute them down with pastel hues! They are versatile, fresh for spring and definitely make a statement!

Seeing as I am already torturing myself by perusing all these wonderful pieces without being able to buy any, I thought I'd torture you by posting some seriously fresh prints!

Head Slams!

So after the episode that was "The Tramp Induced Head Slam!" I'm finally back to health. Never will I ever take on the side of a reinforced glass bus stop again!

But to go with a new head, I decided to go with new hair! Blonde! Ooh it took a while but yes it's finally there!

After tons of protein treatments and moisturising masks, it's not looking too shabby!

I'm still getting used to finally having a normal hair colour. It's hard let me tell you. To soften the blow I bought some extensions and dip dyed them!
I've only actually worn them once because I'm quite enjoying being a classy lady at the moment. But I'm sure it won't last and I'll have to crack them out in some sort of high ponytail/pigtails, a la Jeremy Scott!

But here's what they looked like on their first outting!

Jeg Elsker Dansk Mode!

Only 5 months down the line and FINALLY I am allowed to post again!

After 5 months, living in Denmark I can tell you that although the weather is cold enough to make even the hardiest viking wince, the Danes can definitely dress.

Danish style is understated, minimal and structured.

Absolutely everything is beautifully simplistic and inviting!

Minimarket and Cheap Monday are both Swedish and both amazing! Check out the Minimarket AW11 collection, VIKING!

Denmark itself has a large network native designers, some more recognised than others. Malene Birger and Henrik Vibskov for example, however the lesser known designers and even student designers have an affinity for visualising and creating almost architectural shapes that transform the human silhouette and with the muted colour palette, (which is a favourite) the collections are all so powerful and interesting that it is impossible not to feel inquisitive and almost awe struck by them.

Vibskov!

Sure, historically Danish design has always been respected and revered and who doesn't love the "Sarah Lund-Esque," jumper collection, featured in Danish drama, The Killing?
Who isn't seduced by the sight of strapping, blondes, bracing the cold weather in their thick cable knit sweaters and a heavy fishing net in tow?

Lund- esque Scandinavian Knit.

Scandinavia is all about looking forward, not looking to over complicate and distract you from the elements of the fabric, it's colour it's texture, the tailoring and structure of a blazer is precise and a work of art.

Attention to detail to get the basics right is as important as creativity and innovativeness.

The design students at TEKO are the future of Scandinavian design, they are amazing!
Take a look!

She sells sanctuary!

The fashion set's love affair with, some might say, the exploitation of religion and religious imagery, never fails to create thought provoking, debate evoking designs and styling that could either be viewed as crass or courageous!

I would argue that with a cultural system that has been exploiting it's followers the world over, for thousands of years, they may be due a little payback!

I love religious artwork and I think it translates perfectly to fashion, creating images and art direction that never fails to stir emotion.

Uncomfortable? Incredible? Take a look at these and decide......
