Jeg Elsker Dansk Mode!

Only 5 months down the line and FINALLY I am allowed to post again!

After 5 months, living in Denmark I can tell you that although the weather is cold enough to make even the hardiest viking wince, the Danes can definitely dress.

Danish style is understated, minimal and structured.

Absolutely everything is beautifully simplistic and inviting!

Minimarket and Cheap Monday are both Swedish and both amazing! Check out the Minimarket AW11 collection, VIKING!

Denmark itself has a large network native designers, some more recognised than others. Malene Birger and Henrik Vibskov for example, however the lesser known designers and even student designers have an affinity for visualising and creating almost architectural shapes that transform the human silhouette and with the muted colour palette, (which is a favourite) the collections are all so powerful and interesting that it is impossible not to feel inquisitive and almost awe struck by them.

Vibskov!

Sure, historically Danish design has always been respected and revered and who doesn't love the "Sarah Lund-Esque," jumper collection, featured in Danish drama, The Killing?
Who isn't seduced by the sight of strapping, blondes, bracing the cold weather in their thick cable knit sweaters and a heavy fishing net in tow?

Lund- esque Scandinavian Knit.

Scandinavia is all about looking forward, not looking to over complicate and distract you from the elements of the fabric, it's colour it's texture, the tailoring and structure of a blazer is precise and a work of art.

Attention to detail to get the basics right is as important as creativity and innovativeness.

The design students at TEKO are the future of Scandinavian design, they are amazing!
Take a look!
